It’s time for Hitchens, again

There has been a lot of debate over at Nate’s Blog , Finding Truth, Which Nativity Story . First unkleE tries to dazzle everyone with the “overwhelming consensus ” of scholars routine.  Then Colorstorm comes storming in with his circular reasoning that there is irrefutable evidence for God and it can be found throughout the Bible.  And the Bible is true because God wrote it.

I decided it was time to listen to a voice of reason, so I spent a couple of hours last night watching Christopher Hitchens videos.  I don’t agree with everything he says, but he sure makes many compelling arguments.

  3. I couldn’t help but SMH at the irony when Unklee wrote, regarding the human genome project:

“Proof needs to be way stronger than you are talking here.”

About the video, Hitchen called it well:

    “A celestial North Korea.”

It’s rather daunting when we come to realize how easy it is for people to be brainwashed — under a spell of sorts. Trust and cooperation is important in our survival as a species, but it can also be used against us, and work to our demise. In this short clip of a North Korean movie scene, we can see how the emotions and neurochemicals are manipulated. I could see both CS and UnkleE in those scenes. Heck, that was me at one time. Bamboozled.

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

  6. I wish I could be as eloquent as he was, John. He certainly had a command of the English Language.
As always, thank you for your kind words. You on the other hand has a gift of writing. I am waiting for your next book. Is there one in the works I hope ?
